Deleting an Action
Deleting an action in uAuditor permanently removes a corrective task from the system. This option is typically used when an action was created by mistake, duplicated, or no longer required.
Because actions are part of corrective tracking workflows, deletion is restricted to users with the appropriate permissions.
When to Delete an Action
You may need to delete an action when:
- the action was created accidentally
- duplicate actions exist for the same issue
- the issue was resolved outside the system before assignment
- the action was linked incorrectly
- the action is no longer relevant
Deleting unnecessary actions helps maintain accurate corrective tracking.
How to Delete an Action
To delete an action:
- Open the Actions module
- Locate the action in the list
- Open the action options menu
- Select Delete
- Confirm the deletion
Once deleted, the action is permanently removed from the system.
What Happens After Deleting an Action
When an action is deleted:
- the action is removed from the Actions module
- the action no longer appears in reports
- watchers stop receiving updates
- the activity log entry is removed with the action
- the task cannot be restored
Deletion should be performed carefully to avoid losing corrective tracking records.
Deleting Actions Linked to Inspections
If the action was created from an inspection failure:
- deleting the action does not affect the original inspection
- the failed inspection item remains unchanged
- the corrective workflow for that issue is removed
In these cases, it may be better to complete the action instead of deleting it.
Permissions Required to Delete Actions
Deleting actions depends on role-based permissions.
Typically allowed users include:
- administrators
- supervisors
- action creators (depending on configuration)
Assigned users without edit permissions may not be able to delete actions.
When to Avoid Deleting Actions
Instead of deleting an action, consider completing or updating it when:
- the issue has already been resolved
- the action is part of a compliance workflow
- the action contributes to performance tracking
- the action supports audit documentation
Keeping completed actions improves traceability and reporting accuracy.
Best Practices for Deleting Actions
To manage action deletion safely:
- confirm the action is no longer required
- check whether the action is linked to inspections
- avoid deleting actions used for compliance tracking
- review duplicate actions before removal
- ensure supervisors are informed when necessary
Deleting actions carefully helps maintain clean corrective workflows while preserving important operational records.
