Linking Inspections to Tasks
In uAuditor, users can link an existing inspection to a scheduled task when the inspection was created outside the task workflow. Linking ensures the task is correctly associated with the inspection and its completion status updates automatically.
This feature helps maintain accurate tracking of scheduled inspection performance without requiring inspectors to repeat work.
Why Link an Inspection to a Task
Linking inspections to tasks is useful when:
- an inspection was created manually instead of from the task
- an inspection was started from the Inspections module
- the inspection was completed before opening the assigned task
- a supervisor wants to associate an existing inspection with a scheduled assignment
Once linked, the system treats the inspection as the official completion record for that task.
How to Link an Inspection to a Task
To link an inspection to a task:
- Open the Tasks module
- Locate the relevant task in the list
- Select Link Inspection
- Choose the inspection from the available inspection list
- Confirm the selection
After linking, the task becomes associated with the selected inspection.
What Happens After Linking an Inspection
When an inspection is successfully linked:
- the task status updates automatically
- completion timing determines whether the task is Completed or Completed Late
- the inspection report becomes accessible from the task
- supervisors can review the linked inspection normally
This ensures inspection tracking remains accurate.
Requirements for Linking an Inspection
To link an inspection successfully:
- the inspection must use the same template as the task
- the inspection must match the assigned location (if location restrictions apply)
- the inspection must be created within the relevant scheduling period
- the user must have permission to modify the task
If these conditions are not met, the inspection cannot be linked.
Unlinking an Inspection from a Task
If needed, users with appropriate permissions can unlink an inspection from a task and select a different inspection.
After unlinking:
- the task returns to its previous status
- a different inspection can be linked
- the task can also be completed normally by starting a new inspection
This provides flexibility when correcting assignment mistakes.
Best Practices for Linking Inspections to Tasks
To manage task linking effectively:
- start inspections from tasks whenever possible
- link inspections only when they match the scheduled assignment
- verify template and location alignment before linking
- review completion timing after linking
- avoid duplicate inspections for the same task
Linking inspections to tasks helps maintain accurate inspection tracking and ensures scheduled assignments reflect real inspection activity across the organization.
