Unlinking Tasks from Inspections
In uAuditor, users with the appropriate permissions can unlink an inspection from a scheduled task when the inspection was incorrectly associated or needs to be replaced with another inspection. Unlinking allows the task to return to its previous state so a correct inspection can be linked or created.
This feature helps maintain accurate inspection tracking and ensures scheduled tasks reflect the correct execution record.
When to Unlink a Task from an Inspection
Unlinking is useful when:
- the wrong inspection was linked to the task
- the inspection belongs to a different schedule instance
- the inspection was created using the wrong template
- the inspection was completed for the wrong location
- a supervisor wants to replace the linked inspection with another one
After unlinking, the task can be reassigned to the correct inspection.
How to Unlink an Inspection from a Task
To unlink an inspection from a task:
- Open the Tasks module
- Locate the task linked to the inspection
- Select the task options menu
- Choose Unlink Inspection
- Confirm the action
Once completed, the task is no longer associated with the inspection.
What Happens After Unlinking
When a task is unlinked from an inspection:
- the task status updates automatically
- the task returns to Pending if still within the grace period
- the task returns to Missed if the deadline has passed
- the inspection remains available in the Inspections module
- the inspection report remains unchanged
This ensures inspection records are preserved even after unlinking.
Linking a Different Inspection After Unlinking
After unlinking, users can:
- start a new inspection from the task
- link another existing inspection
- leave the task pending until completion
This provides flexibility when correcting assignment errors.
Permissions Required to Unlink Tasks
Unlinking inspections from tasks depends on user permissions.
Typically allowed roles include:
- administrators
- supervisors
- users with task management permissions
Inspectors without edit permissions may not be able to unlink inspections.
Best Practices for Unlinking Tasks from Inspections
To manage task unlinking effectively:
- confirm the inspection mismatch before unlinking
- relink the correct inspection immediately when possible
- avoid leaving tasks unlinked near deadlines
- review task status after unlinking
- ensure template and location alignment before linking again
Unlinking inspections from tasks helps maintain accurate inspection workflows and ensures scheduled assignments reflect the correct operational activity.
