Deleting an Inspection
Deleting an inspection in uAuditor permanently removes the inspection record from your workspace.
This action is typically limited to authorized users and should only be used when an inspection was created by mistake, duplicated, or no longer needed for operational tracking.
Because inspections may contain compliance evidence and performance data, deletion permissions are usually restricted.
When You Can Delete an Inspection
You may be able to delete an inspection when:
- the inspection was created by mistake
- the inspection is duplicated
- the wrong template was selected
- the inspection belongs to an incorrect location
- the inspection is incomplete and no longer required
Deletion availability depends on your assigned permissions.
Who Can Delete Inspections
Inspection deletion is controlled by roles and access levels.
Depending on your organization’s configuration, deletion permissions may be available to:
- administrators
- location managers
- template owners
- inspection creators (optional)
If the delete option is not visible, contact your administrator.
How to Delete an Inspection
To delete an inspection:
- Open the Inspections module
- Locate the inspection in the list
- Click the options menu (three dots)
- Select Delete
- Confirm deletion when prompted
The inspection will be removed from the system immediately.
What Happens After Deleting an Inspection
Once deleted:
- the inspection report is removed
- checklist responses are deleted
- attached media is removed
- associated scores are removed from analytics
- linked task relationships are cleared
This action cannot be undone.
Deleting Inspections Linked to Tasks
If an inspection is connected to a scheduled task:
- deleting the inspection removes the task linkage
- the task status may return to Pending
- another inspection can be created for the same task if needed
This ensures scheduled workflows remain consistent.
When Not to Delete an Inspection
It is recommended not to delete inspections that:
- contain compliance evidence
- include corrective actions
- are required for audit records
- are already reviewed by supervisors
- contribute to performance reporting
Instead, consider keeping the inspection for documentation purposes.
Best Practices Before Deleting an Inspection
Before removing an inspection:
- confirm the inspection is not required for reporting
- verify it is not linked to corrective actions
- ensure it was created incorrectly or duplicated
- check whether another inspection already replaces it
Careful deletion helps maintain accurate operational history.
